Authentic Materials

The use of authentic materials can be beneficial sometimes in a classroom depending on how you include it into the class. Also it will depend on the level in which we are teaching since some of the teachers say that the authentic materials are designed specifically for native speakers because of the level of the vocabulary that is used in some resourses. For example: there are some audios in which the accent is different to the one that is been taught; for instance if the students are learning or are accostumed to American accent, it is going to be kind of difficult to understand a British accent. That is why it is really important to know and to be wise when doing and implementing different materials into the class. We as teahers have to think a way that can facilitate the students learning; therefore we need to pay attention to the needs of the students and the vocabulary they use.
The use of authentic materials is really good when presenting a new topic since we can use images, photos, drawing etc to get students attention; although it can be time consuming when preparing the materials, it is worth.
